1989
Company Establishment
Roger Samuelsson established SHL Group, initiating Pertinax International, now SHL Healthcare. The goal was to combine world-class manufacturing with the strengths of international management practices.
2004
Opening of the first own manufacturing operation in China
Significant milestone in the company’s history was the opening of own manufacturing operation in China with a 11.350 sqm with HF Welding, Sewing, Assembly and testing capacities and around 300 employees.
2007
Company name changed to SHL Healthcare Ltd.
2011
Establishment of SHL HEALTHCARE AB
Marketing support activities were centralized in Sweden with the establishment of SHL Healthcare AB, which continues to serve as the company’s headquarters.

Introduction of Revamped Corporate Identity
The updated visual system features contrasting dark grey and bright orange - symbolizing reliability and professionalism combined with approachability and energy. This colour philosophy reflects SHL Healthcare’s dedication to providing premium manufacturing capabilities and passionate, high-quality service.
2022
Establishment of TEXTILE CENTER OF EXCELLENCE (TCX)
To extend and streamline support for early project phases in close collaboration with customers, the company established Textile Center of Excellence (TCX) in Borås, Sweden. This allows SHL Healthcare to easily access technology, engineering, and textile materials that can optimize product innovations and sustainability, serving as a Customer Development Center.
2022
ESTABLISHMENT OF SHL HEALTHCARE BULGARIA
Moreover, SHL Healthcare established its first production facility in Europe. The new development and manufacturing site was chosen to be strategically located in Sofia, Bulgaria, to offer our customers further flexibility for lead times, logistics, and production.
2023
STRATEGIC EXPANSION
Continuing its expansion strategy, SHL Healthcare acquired 25,000 sqm of land adjacent to its existing Sofia facility. This strategic purchase enables plans for an 85,000 sqm state-of-the-art manufacturing site, significantly strengthening the company’s European production capacity.
2024
Sustainability Steps Forward
SHL Healthcare completed its first EcoVadis sustainability assessment, earning the Committed Badge in recognition of its structured and transparent approach to sustainability, as well as published its first Sustainability Report - marking a key milestone in the company’s sustainability journey.

SHL Healthcare entered a new phase of growth, focusing on stronger execution, closer customer collaboration, and expanded leadership in Europe, paving the way for future opportunities and innovation.
